Man \/ Machine
When you strive hard to achieve a goal, and you think you've obtained it, there is always something (or a few somethings) that comes along and make you stop and really question it. I've come a long way to be what I am today. I started out cold, and over the years I've worked hard to supress and control that. I recently gave some advice to a guy who was having "girl issues" (guys, you know what I'm talking about). But in a reply a girl told me I was ignoring my emotions and acting like a machine. I'm far too vain to let such a comment slide, so no I ask myself, how much progress have I really made? I've eased up a little bit on my personal policy with women, believe it or not I'm actually willing to take one on for a relationship now, but I suppose I'm not without my distrust.
"Gentlemen, while some of you may think it strange, your actions are perfectly natural. And compared to what I've been through, you've all got a long way to go. You will continue to go through these...scenarios...over and over again. Thats just the way life is. There are a lot of fake, phoney, mofo's out there (don't get me wrong, there are just as many good people too), which is why I tell people to METT-T their enviroment.
Mission - Your purpose wherever you're at.
Enemy - People who could potentially stop you from doing what you want to do.
Terrain and Weather - Where you are.
Troops - People who you KNOW are with you.
Time - Time.
As you guys get older you'll get better at reading people and knowing their true intentions. It'll be easier for you to read guys first. Women are rather difficult to read, and most (not all, but most) come complete with hidden agendas. So in recap: Always METT-T your surroundings (Marine Survival 101). Get better at reading people (don't get caught up by looks). Keep a sharp eye for the good ones (generally they are the ones you dissmiss as something else). And always, always remember to roll with life's punches and be quick to counter with your own.
~C. Angel"
I suppose, being whatever it is that I am, a part of me should be heartless at times. But I gave the right advice, didn't I?
"...But it only takes one second of dispair and of doubt until at last your soul they will gain."
